How this site is built

This site is small and hand-built, on purpose. There is no content-management system and no heavy framework — just Markdown files turned into plain HTML by a little generator of a few hundred lines, with a single dependency for parsing Markdown. What you read is what was written; what is here can be understood end to end. That felt like the right spirit for a site that quotes Feynman.

How it's made

Each piece is a Markdown file with a short header. A build step renders it to a static page — baking in the reading time, the table of contents, the related reading, the search index, the RSS feed, and a social-share card. Equations are set with KaTeX, code is highlighted, and diagrams are drawn with Mermaid. Everything is committed to Git and served as static files, so it is fast, durable, and entirely portable.

The type

Titles are set in Fraunces, the body in Newsreader, interface text in IBM Plex Sans, code in IBM Plex Mono, and the Hindi poetry in Noto Serif Devanagari. The single accent — used sparingly, like a scribe's second ink — is a madder red the old manuscripts called rubric.

The diagram

The mark that recurs in the footer is a Feynman diagram: two particles meeting, exchanging a force, and going on changed. It seemed a fitting signature for these pages.
